Organic Protein Powder Review

I’m one of K&K’s #1 fans and think everything they do is so wonderful for the #TIUCommunity. The camaraderie they’ve built between complete strangers is absolutely amazing, and as people and business women, they deserve the utmost respect in the fitness industry. I owe my most recent fitness journey to them and the basis TIU stands for – share.love.inspire.sweat. Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 2.51.45 PM

I’ve always been the first in line to purchase their new products because I love supporting the TIU line of goodies, like their protein powders. I used to hate the taste and texture of Perfect Fit, but learned to love it after getting used to it; I use their chocolate protein powder rather than flour in baking, their vanilla in daily smoothies, and their limited edition cinnamon roll flavor in my protein pancakes. I’m always an advocate for the complete TIU lifestyle and have been thrilled to use check-ins “advertising” Perfect Fit in my recipes, or follow their recipes from the TIU Member Nutrition Plan and post how they turn out. All that being said, it was brought to my attention last night that after a fellow TIU sister reviewed the lab testing on PF she was quite alarmed by the high level of heavy metals. Part of me didn’t want to believe it, because of the beautiful “clean” advertising K&K do on all their labeling, and how they tell all of us TIU members that they formulated a safe, clean powder for us after they couldn’t find one in the fitness industry. Now, I’m not a gullible little teeny bopper who claims everything I read is true, but K&K have an extensive background in health and fitness, and even they use it. I figured the proof was in the pudding! My husband & I have a friend who sells protein powder to doctor’s offices and medical centers, and he has been trying to get me to make the switch to the brand he represents. I was always so stubborn saying “No way, I love PF; it only contains like 5 ingredients and is USDA Organic!” I literally make 1-2 smoothies a day as my M2 or M4, and Tanner, my 16-month old always steals like half for himself. Yes, their label says if nursing or pregnant consult your health care provider, but when I did they said the ingredients appeared to be clean and safe. So I went to huntin’, and found the good, bad, and the ugly on PF for myself…I used a trusted and verified site, LowHeavyMetalsVerified.org, and here’s what I found…

*Please note my perspective of what is considered “safe” is biased based on the fact I am a breastfeeding mom. The guidelines I follow of what goes into my body are the same guidelines recommended for pregnant women. Sure, “our moms ate ______ and we were fine!” is something pregnant women in the past decade hear over and over again. But times have changed; food regulations have changed, ingredients put in foods have changed, research has changed. We have more studies run, more knowledge of food born illnesses, and more information available to us of what and what not to consume while pregnant or nursing.

Now that I read the lab results for Perfect Fit, I can say that I will no longer be using it as part of my daily regimen. I’m so sad because like I said, I’ve grown to love the taste, finally got over the texture, and have absolutely loved using it as a flour substitute in all my favorite baking recipes! Natural News posted their opinon on PF after it underwent lab testing, and this was the part of their article that absolutely made my heart sink and made me feel like the worst mom ever for feeding all my baked goods and smoothies to Tanner. I buy mostly wooden toys and all BPA-free plastics, and feed my family whole, organic foods, as my husband had childhood cancer, and I want to set the best example I can as a mom.

The lead content of the Perfect Fit protein we tested was higher than the average for this category, but lower than the highest we’ve tested. For this batch, the lead content reported via ICP-MS was just over 0.3 ppm, while the highest we’ve seen in the category of rice protein is over 0.5 ppm.

The serving size of Perfect Fit protein is 20 grams, meaning one serving of this lot we tested would contain over 6 micrograms of lead. This is 12 times higher than the daily limit described by California’s Proposition 65 — a law which desperately needs to be reformed — yet I could not find a Prop 65 warning on the product package. This indicates the product appears to be out of compliance with Prop 65, giving it what others in the industry have privately described to me as an “unfair advantage” in labeling. The lab results from 2014 are also scary because PF contains lead, cadmium, and tungsten; which I definitely would not consider “organically perfect for me.” Mike Adams, a food scientist/advocate and research director + the Editor for Natural News stated, their “clean and honest” is difficult to stomach after reviewing the lab testing, as “it appears [Perfect Fit] is made of the same exact rice protein used by everybody else in the industry — a raw material which is typically sourced from China, Vietnam and other Asian nations…which consistently tests higher in heavy metals than hemp, whey and pea proteins” [Adams, 2014].

Natural Health left some great advice to follow on what to do before purchasing protein powders. Adams lists the following questions, and also states that it’s alarming most companies don’t even know the answers when asked. • What is the country of origin of the top ingredients? • What are the heavy metals lab results of your product? • Do you test your products for tungsten? • What are your limits for heavy metals? (In other words, how much is still okay to sell, in your opinion?) Screen Shot 2015-01-05 at 2.49.06 PM

When Sarah, a TIU Member wrote to K&K about the heavy metals, this was there response –

“Sarah – we appreciate you reaching out. As a proud manufacturer of organic, plant-based protein, we would like provide reassurance in regard to metals levels naturally occurring in Perfect Fit Protein. We have always thoroughly tested each lot of Perfect Fit Protein for metals, and our levels are very low and continually improving. Perfect Fit Protein’s most recent round of testing (performed using the ICP-MS/AOAC 993.14 method), showed metal levels which were all significantly less than one would consume in a 1 cup serving of spinach. For further assistance or if you have additional questions, you can email us at CustomerService@PerfectFitProteini.com. Thanks for your inquiry.”

Now, what’s interesting is Mike, the Health Ranger, has squashed the false argument that heavy metals are naturally occurring in foods; you can see in the email inquiry above that Tone It Up’s customer service rep compared their levels are comparable to what you would naturally find in 1 cup of spinach.

The slide below shows that any soil within the world contains some trace of industrial pollution; 44% of mercury found within North America’s soil is actually from wildfires right within the Pacific Northwest themeslves, where people claim is one of the most “natural and rural” sources of farming [Adams, 2014]. Industrital polution even travels to U.S. soil ALL the way from CHINA! [Adams, 2014]. Now, “naturally occuring” does not exist since the industrial revolution which has now led to environmental pollution, which is completely man-made yet unavoidable based on the world we live in today.

Adams points out in the chart above that all of these things coming off of farms + power plants go up into the atmosphere, and are then transported thousands and thousands of miles [Adams, 2014]. “Pure”, “pristine” mountains in Colorado, for example, are covered with pollution from China…how? The pollutants are released from factories overseas, which travel through the atmosphere; the toxins/heavy metals released spread up into clouds, rain, etc [Adams, 2014]. So when it snows & that snow covers those mountains, there are traces of pollution already formed from the atmosphere [Adams, 2014]. When that snow begins to melt, it eventually leads to river, which eventually lead to water & irrigation canals used to water our food crops in California, Washington, etc [Adams, 2014]. This graph proves we should seek food grown in areas with lower levels of pollution to avoid heavy metals in our food [Adams, 2014]. It’s a vicious cycle!

MY PERSONAL SUMMARY/BREAKDOWN/OPINON based on what I took from Adam’s video & Natural Health’s write up on industrial pollution & the lab results of PF Protein:

When metals are released from industry power plants all over the world into the atmosphere, that is pollution; alluminum, lead, &  mercury, for example, are all released up into the air. These pollutants then travel from continents & countries after being released into the atmosphere into clouds and rain, which eventually falls on crops. Protein powder companies are basically saying the minute these substances hit soil they are “naturally occurring”? Nope. It’s pollution. It’s toxic heavy metals. They may not be physically ADDING heavy metals additionally into their proteins, but the problem is most of the plant-based ingredients found in protein powders are grown from plants in China, one of the most polluted countries in the world. Therefore, based on the cycle of industrial pollution, heavier traces of metals are founds depending on the parts of the world they are manufactured/grown in.

Sure, one can argue that these compounds are considered natural, as they are, after all elements listed in the periodic table, and found within the earth. Let’s take mercury, for example. We know we shouldn’t eat ten cans of tuna, or consume more than one can of tuna per week while pregnant, because of the mercury levels. Do we eat tuna? Yes, just in moderation. As Adams stated, based on the grams per serving in Perfect Fit, the lead is 12x higher than what’s recommended to consume within the daily limit. Another example; my dumbbells my husband picked up for me from TJ Maxx. When I opened them, there was an insert on California’s Prop 65 stating they contained chemicals known to the state of CA that can cause illness, cancer, or birth defects. Did I still use them that day for my workout? Yes. Have I looked in to picking up a pair that are prop 65 clear? Yes.

Also food for thought; if the high levels of metals are coming from plant-based compounds, like brown rice, do we still eat rice? Yes. Do our rice packets warn us that if it’s manufactured in China we should be worried about heavier metals than if it were grown in the most pristine place on earth? No. So sure, toxins are literally everywhere. Like stated in my blog title, I’m a clean-ISH eating and cooking TIU mama. Do I avoid every single thing that potentially contains dangerous levels of something? No. Do I live a 100% clean lifestyle? No. I just try to be the best mom I can be based on the knowledge I acquire. I’m constantly learning as the days, weeks, and years go by. I’m not a scientist, dietitian, nor do I work in the health field and claim to know much about the studies that go into lab testing. All I know is I can formulate an opinion based on research I dive into, as a college student would do when writing a thesis or research paper.

So my overall opinion of Perfect Fit, and ANY protein powder for that matter, is based around the question, “Would I eat this if I were pregnant again?”

For further information on this, Adams’ video is OUTSTANDING and absolutely worth the watch. Find his video here – http://labs.naturalnews.com/Video-False-Argument-Naturally-Occurring-Heavy-Metals-in-Foods.html Remember from earlier, Adams is a food scentist and advocate, as well as the research director for Natural News. I thinkkkkk he knows what he’s talking about 😉

In conclusion, after reviewing the lab results for myself and learning more about industrial pollution, Perfect Fit does in fact contain lower levels of heavy metals than other brown rice protein powders on the market. However, they are still there and seem to be grown overseas, where man-made factories pump higher levels of these heavy metals into the atmosphere. We don’t drink soda with every meal because we know it can be harmful to our health, so coming from someone who drinks 1-2 smoothies a day containing Perfect Fit, would you drink a protein powder containing the levels Perfect Fit does? What protein powders do you use? Have you researched their laboratory testing results? Like I said, I’m not a chemist, so encourage you to do your own research and form your own opinion on protein powders and their compounds. This is simply my opinion from the research I could find

. The heavy metal comparisons of Perfect Fit and other protein powders mentioned in this article and shown on the graphs were from lab testing performed in March of 2014. A month later, in April 2014, Perfect Fit, among other vegan/organic protein powders agreed to voluntarily uphold to new lower heavy metal ratings standards [Adams, 2014]. Since then these companies seek to continue to improve their product batches, to make them safer for consumers with lower heavy metals. Perfect Fit is proud to announce they have committed to these standards well in advance, and that their current lot testing showed significantly lower heavy metals in most categories [Perfect Fit, 2015]. As the old saying goes, if someone told you to jump off a bridge, you probably wouldn’t jump off a bridge. Like any product, good, or service, it’s your personal choice to research or consume. The articles and statements within this article are based in previously published studies and my own personal opinion. Directly contact any consumer for further questions.

I’d love to hear, as clearly I’m on the market for a new protein powder that is clean and heavy metal free!

Winter Creamsicle Smoothie

There are few things these days I love more than smoothies. Especially using my shiny new toy, the Ninja Pro 1500, that Santa, aka my mom & dad, brought me down the chimney. OH MY GOSH this gadget is a smoothie lover’s version of heaven!! It makes them creamy, thick or thin, chunk-less, and PERFECT. I’ve been using it multiple times a day since opening it, and can’t stay away! My little Tanner is obsessed with smoothies too, so I’ve been having way too much fun making us smoothie after smoothie!

Growing up in Northern California I’m absolutely obsessed with tangerines, as they’re locally grown and harvested and available all winter 🍊❄️ at local farmstands. This is one of my favorite ways to incorporate them into post-workout fuel or as an afternoon recharge that keeps me full until dinner [and out of the candy bowl].

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/3dd/73317614/files/2015/01/img_6530.jpg

If dairy free, leave out the Greek yogurt. You can sub with an additional 1/2 frozen banana, or just leave out completely.

I encourage you to also add 1 cup fresh kale or spinach [1/3 cup of frozen] to sneak in your greens! 🍃🌱🌿

I love this recipe because I always have all these ingredients on hand, and it’s a nice switch-up from mixed berry smoothies.

If you can’t find tangerines locally, use an orange. I use vanilla Perfect Fit protein as my protein powder, because it’s the cleanest I’ve found so far being a breastfeeding mama.

When I run out of frozen pineapple and mango, I still make this and it tastes just as yummy, but this is my favorite way to make a healthy creamsicle treat! 🍊💗🍊💗

Enjoy, and I’d love to hear what you think!! If you make it, I’d love to see! Use the hashtag #wintercreamsicleamoothie so I can find you!

Xo,
Shelley

TUMS & GUNS 30-DAY CHALLENGE

Ahhhh can you even believe that December is coming to a close and the new year will be here before we know it?! I’m not really sure where 2014 decided to disappear to, but I swear, each year the weeks, months, and years fly by faster and faster. I don’t know if we just get busier, life gets more hectic, or what, but it’s crazy how fast time moves right in front of us. Because of that, be sure to soak in each and every moment, take pauses to smell the roses, and really savor each day, each experience, each adventure…focus on moments this 2015. Technology and social media can hog peace and can burden experiences; we’ve all been there – a dinner, get-together, party, etc., and everyone is sitting there on their phones updating their Facebook status, scrolling through their Instagram newsfeed.. I know I’m guilty of being an Insta-holic, especially with TIU. Instagram will always be there, precious moments won’t. Remember that this year 🙂

2015

Speaking of moments, make 2015 one of your best years yet by focusing on YOU. Your health, your strengths, how you want to feel, and what you want to achieve. Through the TIU community I’ve met SO MANY amazing women who motivate me, inspire me, support me, and who I feel like actually genuinely care about me and want to see me succeed. One of those women is Shelby, AKA @Shabelby_TIU to the TIU Insta/Twitter world. Many of you saw and/or participated in the 30-day squat challenge she hosted during the month of December. I was completely inspired to jump in & had planned on hosting a New Year challenge to kick off 2015, so I knew she would be the absolute perfect TIU soul sista to partner with me. Shelby’s posts are always inspiring and give you the urge to stop what you’re doing and tackle a workout with no excuses. She is strong, sweet, and we have this creepy-twin-psychic-wavelengths thing going on, where we always seem to be thinking the same things, sharing the same thoughts, and it’s like we were just meant to “meet”. I love that the TIU community doesn’t try to step on toes, overpower each other, one up each other, or out do one another; we’re all here to uplift and join as forces to be the best versions of ourselves we can be. It’s amazing to find that within women, and within the crazy world in general. I love that Shelby has become my #twinning TIU soul sista, and am so thankful the TIU community has brought our west coast paths to cross [even if just through Instagram for now!] She truly is the definition of share.love.inspire.sweat. With that, we can’t wait to have you join us in our #TIUTumsandGuns 30-day fitness challenge!!!!

No one said it would be easy, but it will be worth it!

If trying something new doesn’t completely terrify you, it means you’re not stepping outside of your comfort zone. Trying new things, whether experiences or adventures, doesn’t come easy to most people. We like the security of routines, familiarity, and the sense of belonging. I often find it’s terrifying to walk into a new gym, go to a new fitness class alone, or even start a new hobby. But once you dive in and get comfortable, it’s the best feeling ever! That’s how Shelby and I want you to look at this Tums & Guns Challenge. Look at it ONE DAY AT A TIME. We’re posting the 30-day calendar so you have a printable reference to hang on your fridge, keep in your gym bag, or wherever your little heart desires. If you look ahead to the last week, you’re going to pee your pants. Don’t do that! Take each day at a time. Your body – your core – your mind – will get stronger and stronger with each passing day, and each passing week, and you’ll truly be amazed with how far you come. Take the squat challenge for example – how scary was it to look at the last day?! Didn’t you tell yourself there was no physical way you’d ever be able to complete nearly 200 squats?! How easy does doing 20 squats feel now?? #canIgetanAmen?? We PROMISE you if you just take each day at a time, each crunch at a time, each rep at a time, YOU CAN DO THIS. We’re here to support you and be your biggest fans!

Please remember it is ALWAYS okay to modify. If your body is telling you you can’t do as many reps that are listed, listen to it! Even if you have to repeat the moves from day one or the moves from week one over and over and over again, rather than climbing up in reps. that is perfectly okay! The point is you’re doing it! You’re making progress! You’re doing something new, something challenging, something that is going to pay off in the end. No one said it would be easy, but it will so be worth it!

So what is the Tums & Guns Challenge?

  • It’s a 30-day arms and abs challenge that will build strength in your core, arms, and your entire body!

#TIUTumsandGuns

How do I join?

  • Follow both Shelby & I on Instagram [@tiu_shelley + @shabelby_tiu] and each calendar day complete the set of moves listed. When you’re starting your workout, or when you complete your workout, check in with us on Instagram by using the hashtag #TIUTumsandGuns with your post, along with tagging the both of us so we can see! Shelby I both run accountability groups, so we both want to see your check-ins within our fit fams!! Two forces are better than one! My TIU accountability subgroup is #TIUseashells and Shelby’s is #ItstheTIUlife, so we want to see our groups come together and absolutely rock this challenge! Simply check off each day of the calendar once you complete its moves!
  • Post before pictures using our hashtag [perfect to keep you accountable for the LYB series and this challenge!!]. Before and after pictures will be part of your submission to win AMAZING prizes!

Wait, what’s a TIU Subgroup?

  • There are hundreds of thousands of active TIU members, so there are a handful of women within the TIU community that have created subgroups by creating unique hashtags for their groups to check-in with. The point is to create a smaller subgroup within TIU that provides support, encouragement, and a place of belonging and comfort within the masses. For example, with #TIUseashells that started during 2014’s Bikini Series, I can click on that hashtag and interact and support a smaller number of women, and build friendships. I see familiar places, recognize the people I follow and who follow me, and feel a sense of community and home, like a safe little hub within a big city kind-of-thing 😉 Shelby built the same idea with her subgroup #ItstheTIUlife. We’re both natural leaders and like to build a sense of belonging within such a large organization, TIU, through our personality styles.

Are there prizes for check-ins?

  • YES!!! Ohhh yes! Remember how I said Shelby & I make a great team?! I created the calendar and she created this incredible prize bundle!!!! Ready for your jaws to drop!? There will be ONE grand prize winner chosen who will receive all of these amazing goodies!!!!! Stay tuned for submission details & rules near the end of the challenge! Grand prize winner will be chosen based on check-ins, support offered within the #TIUTumsandGuns challenge, before & after submissions, and a video entry (details coming soon!)

  • That’s okay!!! We want you to challenge yourself and your body [doubt and fear can be more damaging than the physical activity themselves so stay positive!] but never overdo. We are not certified personal trainers so it is your responsibility to check with your health care provider prior to beginning a new fitness routine like this calendar. Listen to your body. Never perform moves you’ve been advised against, and never push yourself too hard where you may get hurt. Follow the calendar every day and be sure to rest on listed rest days. There are moves still listed on rest days because life gets busy, and people have to skip workouts here and there. Those moves are listed so if you miss another day, you can still follow along without getting behind. It is ALWAYS okay to modify. Scale the move or scale down the number of reps to what makes you feel comfortable.
  • By increasing the number of reps every day you will grow stronger, fitter, and more confident!

Are you guys personal trainers?

  • Not yet! One of my goals this year is to study toward earning my certified my personal training certificate. I never in a million years thought that would be something I’d be interested in, or even capable of. Thanks to the incredible support from the TIU community, I’ve found a new passion for health, fitness, and inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle, so cannot wait for this new journey!!! I know Shelby feels the same way, so our opportunities are endless! Just like yours! It’s never too late to be who you want to be, or begin a new adventure!
  • Be sure to consult your health care provider before beginning our challenge. We are not doctors so cannot offer certified advice. It is your responsibility to seek out a certified trainer or health care professional prior to trying new fitness programs. We are not liable for injuries. This calendar is simply a guide.

Love your Body + Tums & Guns, Week 1 Tracker

Holy cowwww has this been one heck of a holiday season! It’s been a whirlwind of travels, treats, champs, and adventures, and just like K&K said, I’m ready for the indulgences to be over and it’s time to get back on track. I spent the day in Tahoe with one of my best friends, and it was the extra kind of comfort & familiarity I needed to feel refreshed for the new week ahead.

I may have taken the last couple weeks off of a formal schedule to enjoy time with friends and family to celebrate Christmas, but it’s so true when you fail to plan you plan to fail. I kept up with my #7daysofFitmas but my eating and additional workouts + miles definitely need a wake up call! I’m so excited to get back into the groove & kick off 2015 with a fitness bang; using my spreadsheet is the best way for me to stay accountable, and I love sharing this knowing so many others benefit as well. Download below! [sorry, PDF files only due to my formatting being stollen during past challenges 😦 ]

Fitmas Frenzy

Hiii from sunny South Florida! We’re staying at my sister-in-law’s this week as we’re spending Christmas here this year with my husband’s family, and this morning I woke up ready to shake things up from my #7daysofFitmas.

I was outside on the cement with no mat, so created moves that are travel-friendly and work anywhere you are! I used a kettle bell in two moves, but you can sub with a filled water bottle, soup can, or even a heavy book!

Without further ado, enjoy my ‘Fitmas Frenzy!’ Can’t wait to hear what you think! If you try this routine, or are excited for this, check-in using the hashtag #FitmasFrenzy so I can hear how you do! Merry Fitmas!!!

100 + 125 + 150 by Valentine’s Day Mileage Trackers

With Christmas sneaking up on us, it’s time to get back on track during Tone it Up’s Love your Body series starting Jan 1! With that, comes another #100by______ challenge (they haven’t released their official hashtag yet, so for now, I’m going for 100 by Valentine’s Day. That’s exactly six weeks from January 1, so seems perfect to me!

Shelby and I are also hosting an amazing additional challenge, #TIUTumsandGuns. We are SO excited for you to join! Our 30-day arms + and calendar will be released after Christmas, so be sure to stay tuned!

For now, enjoy these trackers once Christmas has come and gone. A 200 tracker is coming soon!

Please download and print to enjoy for yourself! All I ask is if you repost, please don’t crop out or take away credit. I do everything I do to give back to the TIU Community but someone edited my last one covering my name with Tone It Up and it hurt my feelings after these take time and energy and sprinkles of love! Xo

Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe…Organic Pouches who are the Best in Show…

I recently posted a picture on my fitness Instagram where I shared my love for the organic pouches hitting the baby (errrr busy/traveling/running out the door mama) market by storm. I don’t know why it took me nearly ten months to figure out I can order these in bulk off Amazon, but thank God I finally did so I can stop going to the grocery store like 3 times a week to restock on these gems…

Tanner is 15 months old now, but when he turned 6 months and got the green light for starting solids, I had done ALL my research. Like too much research. and all of that went out the window by the time I perfected our routine and forgot everything I read anyway.

For my birthday I asked for a fancy-shmancy make-your-own baby food AND pouch maker; I got it, used the baby food maker a handful of times, and the pouch maker is collecting dust. When Tanner was on purees only (and the tap) I found using the handheld immersion blender was the easiest and the best when I was going for shortest clean up time. If I had time to prep & clean (literally once) I used my food processor. Background: My husband travels 80-90% of every month for work back and forth from the east coast to California, so I’ve been a “single” mama raising Tanner; a wild child who refuses to nap unless he’s snuggling ON me or I force him into the stroller and we go for a walk until he falls asleep. He cut back to one nap a day right around a year old, so I literally don’t.get.a.break. I wonder how all those DIY moms do it…..a superman husband? Parents who live next door? Literally blows my mind. I used to be a wedding planner who lived on Pinterest, DIY crafts, painting, globe trotting…. #BYEFELICIA…those days are long gone (for now) and I’ve traded in my backpacking pack for diaper bags and curling irons for dry shampoo.

Anyway, back to those genus little pouches I wish I invented!

1. Plum Organics (look out for water or juice being the first ingredient, and be careful to spot the long ingredient lists in some of the yogurt & toddler flavors that aren’t clean).

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 10.17.17 PM2. Peter Rabbit Organics (love! Keep an eye out for fillers like juice or juice concentrate)

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 10.16.05 PM3. Select Gerber Organics (I say select because only a few of them purely contain fruits, veggies, and water. Check all the labels on these guys; I only buy a couple of the fruit flavors.)

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 10.16.16 PM4. Sprout Organic Food Pouches (these have been the BEST I’ve come across; organic fruits and veggies with no added junk! No added sugar & veggies are baked and roasted packing in nutrients.)

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 10.15.49 PM5. Ella’s Kitchen (super clean and veggie-packed flavors!)

Screen Shot 2014-12-19 at 10.16.48 PM

I stumbled upon this modern-mama blog, Gimme the Good Stuff, a resource for conscious moms and healthy kids, who broke these pouches down exactly the way I would have, but even better, and now I might just have some extra time in the morning to shower AND shave my legs; ambitious, I know 😉 View her opinion on some of my favorite pouches (along with other interesting info) here.

These spoon attachments by Plum were also super handy when we were on the go & before Tanner had the motor skill to suck the pouches out of the spout like a straw –
